Information Security continues in recovery mode
The information security market was the area of corporate governance worst hit by the recession. IT spending is always a victim of economic downturns and in an environment where business investment has been cut by 25%, information security was always going to fare badly.
However, business investment grew by 7% in the second quarter of 2010. This has supported a recovery in demand that started in the financial sector in the last quarter of 2009 and which grew in strength during the first half of 2010. The recovery has spread to the consultancy sector although demand from commercial end users is still below pre recessionary levels.
Skill shortages have started to emerge and include IAM, CLAS, penetration testing and SIEM.
We are optimistic that demand will continue in the second half of 2010. However, in spite of the rebound in the recruitment market, the economic environment remains fragile.
